The truth is, there have been many incredible people in my life who have assisted me along the way. At times, there have been these moments when I get to see the true spirit of the people in my life. I want this to stay from my heart so some of the dates may be a bit off.
It was early 2018, I began working alongside Leonard Jackson. He was building BCT Projects (The Reach Group) into what it is today. I remember talks about the First Nations Capacity Fund and what it would mean to have a fund that could be versatile, reacting immediately to any barrier that was in the way of Indigenous business owners or employment success. Early on, Leonard brought me on to work with Tim Bell and Arrow Transportation Systems Inc. I remember being so excited looking at the endless possibilities in this next phase of my career.
Unfortunately, that was not to be my story.
I was at that time, in the beginning stages of a descent into alcohol and drug addiction that would take me two more years to conquer. I was not able to perform in the way that I’d hoped. I was also not able to come to this reality face to face with Leonard and Tim. I was not the same man in those days as I am today. But here we are, now six years later. I’m almost four years removed from addiction, I have a family, I’ve launched Healing Between Worlds, Life is incredible. Then, my family is thrown a curve ball that significantly impacted our day-to-day life. A phone call to Leonard and Tim began a very efficient process to a significant grant supporting Healing Between Worlds at a critical time. Leonard and Tim standing beside me, making sure I have every chance to succeed. Believing in me. Thank you, Gentlemen. There are opportunities for reconciliation everywhere we look!
Thank you to the First Nations Capacity Fund for the grant they have provided to Healing Between Worlds. They have been a catalyst for the work we do to in turn be a catalyst to share TRUTH on the journey of RECONCILIATION.
